VisitScotland   3 star   Stockbridge lies to the north of Princes Street, just across the Water of Leith from Robert Adam’s Georgian New Town.  One of Edinburgh’s original villages, it grew up round the painter Henry Raeburn’s estates at Deanhaugh and St Bernard.  Today although very much part of Edinburgh, it still keeps much of the village feel.
